1. What is SiMUN?

SiMUN is a short name for Slovenia international Model United Nations, a simulation of UN bodies and committees, which is held each year in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is organized by association MEOS.

 

2. Can I participate at SiMUN even if this is my first Model UN?

Yes. Everyone between 18 and 30 can apply. Usually the applicants are students.

 

3. What should I wear at the simulation?

All delegates at the SiMUN conference are expected to dress according to Western Business (a suit and tie for men and a business suit or conservative dress for women). 

 

4. Can I represent my own country?

No, the delegates cannot represent their country of origin.

 

5. Does SiMUN provide meals?

The participation fee for international participants includes all three meals and coffee breaks. For Slovenian participants, coffee breaks, lunch and dinner are included.

 

6. Does SiMUN provide accomodation?

All international participants are provided with accomodation during the days of the conference. The accomodation costs are covered in the participation fee. 

 

7. Will there be time for seightseeing?

During the first and the last day of the conference an organized sightseeing trip around Ljubjana will be available for all delegates.

 

8. Does SiMUN also have an evening programme?

The SiMUN staff knows that a life of a diplomat is hard. That is why we organize cultural and social events in the evenings.

 

9. What is SiMUN times?

SiMUN Times is the official daily newspaper of SiMUN and represents the principal source of information for SiMUN participants. The SiMUN Times team consists of 3 journalists and one photographer, guided by the editor who is also responsible for editorial, layout and proofreading work. Journalists will write articles, critiques, analyses and interviews, all based on the debates, negotiations and interviews with SiMUN delegates. The journalists are expected to report in the most objective, unbiased way and pay attention to accurate reporting. The journalists' work is to summarize and evaluate gathered information. Delegates may also approach the journalists and share some informations with them.

 

10. Where can I find the exact guidelines how to participate at the simulation?

All the delegates at SiMUN are going to recieve a special handbook with topic guidelines and Rules of Procedure. This handbook will also be sent to all participants in digital form via email prior to the event.
